Cisplatin is a chemotherapy drug used to treat testicular, ovarian, bladder, head and neck, lung and cervical cancer. It may also be used to treat other cancers. Presently, cisplatin is one of the most powerful chemotherapeutic drugs used for the treatment of ovarian cancer; even though resistance is typical [20]. In ovarian germ cell cancer, the use of cisplatin brings about high response rates.
Evidence from studies show that the use of cisplatin chemotherapy is effective in the early stages of the disease, however patients who suffer recurrent of the disease often develop resistance to chemotherapy and eventually succumb.
